What have we gotten ourselves into?
Dating has definitely never been easy, but I might have to take the stance that today is has become harder than ever. But how could that be since we are able to communication 24/7 365 days a year?
Social media and online platforms have become a way for people to get to know one another without any personal interactions. Personally, I know almost too much information about people who I have either never met or barely know - but it is their fault since they have turned to the web as a way to express themselves.
These platforms have also been a burden on many’s lives as they strive to be like others rather than show their true self. How can you really know somebody when they are putting out a fake front - people transform themselves into what they think others want to see, rather than showing how in love with their true self they actually are.
Images have becomes the new definition of the modern dating world. Everyone wants to find the man who “looks at them like ___ looks at ___” or the one who sends those tear jerking texts about how cute you sleep against him.
“But does all of this create a bigger issue of jealousy and fear?”
Once you put it out there, its there forever. The internet is like a blackhole of information, which makes things much more complicated then it should be.
Why did you like her photo? Why is he sending you so many snaps? I can see you online but you ignored me text. These never-ending dilemmas have become the constant arguments of many couples in today’s society due to insecurities.
Yet things brings up the final point:
"you need to love yourself before you can love another."
Friends are a good part everyone’s lives and they shouldn’t take a hit due to a new addition. Once you love yourself, put yourself out there to love somebody else and have faith that they will respect you.
